The Vanguard Chronicles

DEMONSLAYER

Book One of the Vanguard Chronicles

There was nothing Spirit Clayborn wouldn't do for the sister who raised him. But after she is diagnosed with a fatal disease, even brawling with cannibals in underground fight clubs within an impoverished sector of his home city isn't enough to pay for her expensive treatment.

After discovering his newfound ability to harness a rare and powerful magic, Spirit must earn membership into an elite military group that may pay him enough to save his sister Emily. And if he does survive the deadly trials of initiation, he will not only face the truth of who he is but also the monstrosities that rest just outside the city walls.

SUNCHASER

Book Two of The Vanguard Chronicles

The shadows of war between humans and demons have begun to stretch over Aona. Demons march toward a weakened Crossus. With time against them, Spirit and his team must travel north to the country of Aloweth in search of an ancient artifact, powerful enough to aid in the inevitable battles ahead.

However, demons are not the only danger. An elusive organization threatens to tear apart Aloweth from the inside. Still struggling from a heavy loss, Spirit is thrown into conflict with a familiar enemy as he realizes what it means to be Vanguard, and humanity’s greatest hope.

About The Author

Ian Patrick Eviston was born in 1992 in Louisville, Kentucky. He began writing from a young age, jotting down short stories in 7th grade for a Young Authors program. While his first story, "Invasion of the Syrup People", wasn't a huge success, it sparked a passion for storytelling that only grew as he got older. It led to his first full (very crudely written) novel in college, and eventually toward the beginnings of his first published works.

What People are Saying

  • J.R.R Tolkien, then George R.R. Martin, and now Ian Eviston!!!

Outstanding book. The author has created a story very different from any other books in the same genre. The creativity behind this world the author created sucks you in. The storyline is exceptional, the character development is on point, and the balance of fantasy, family, darkness, thrill, love, and excitement is bar none. Kudos!!! Can wait for the next book in the series!!!!

  • Unique and vibrant characters and world make this a fantastic read!

Eviston's world-building abilities really shine in this book, creating a tangibly vast fantasy world filled with surprises at every turn. While characters are many, they are all very memorable and unique, and each one makes the reader either love or hate them as Eviston intended There is also a good balance between unexpected twists in the story and reasonable choices being made by the characters - nothing feels too forced.

  • Will exceed your expectations!

This book is like a Time Warp, you pick it up and before you notice you've spent 30 minutes in the world Eviston creates. I was immediately sucked in by the vivid and active writing style. Eviston creates a realm so clear you are a part of it immediately. Fantastic author with a bright future ahead of him. Highly recommend, with a level of writing on par with the best.

  • An imaginative tale of a fantasy universe with the heart and soul of the familiar.

The exceptional descriptive narrative throughout this book transports us into the worlds of Spirit and his comrades as well as their foes. There are some moments to catch one's breath but the journey is exhilarating and impassioned and we are beyond eager for the next installment of Demonslayer as the final page is turned.
